The Story of the Food-Loving Blogger Behind Acquired to Cook

A Little About My Journey

I’m so happy you are here!

I am a Southeastern native, West Coast transplant, and one of the world’s greatest aunties. I have a passion for learning and sharing ideas especially about all things related to food. I am a sensible free spirit currently navigating life in and around Los Angeles. For years I subscribed to the idea I didn’t have time to prepare meals for myself while balancing life, a career, and at times, school. I didn’t realize that my philosophy had been wrong until years of just grabbing food on the go, always eating the wrong things, started to take toll on my health. To add insult to injury, I’ve spent a small fortune on fast food. Fast food only provided me with empty calories and empty pockets. I had to be intentional at living a better life.

I believe where there is tragedy there is triumph. I knew that if I realigned my priorities, and took control over the things I ate, I could gain better control of my health and the money I spent on food. I realized I had been sabotaging myself by thinking I was too busy to prepare meals for myself. I needed to get back to my passion. I decided to change my life by starting in the kitchen.

Growing up in my family, food and consumer science was taught by the family matriarch. She is better known as aunt to some, and granny to most of us. She stressed the importance of being able to do most things for yourself. Food is such an integral part of daily life, therefore it becomes equally important, and cost effective, to prepare meals at home. Each weekend granny would roll out biscuit dough to go along with the strawberry preserves for breakfast. The next meal would already be in process of being prepared before I even had a chance to get hungry after breakfast. The kitchen was always spotless as it was a general rule all dishes must be cleaned and cleared with kitchen floors swept and mopped before going to bed. I would marvel at her skill, soak in her energy, and laugh at that wicked sense of humor with a “say anything” kind of spirit. I’m glad I was paying attention to the valuable life lessons.

Welcome to my little corner in the world. Here in my world, I’m always sharing my love for food through recipes. I have a passion for great food and fellowship with great friends. In addition to sharing recipes and consumer content, I’m wanting to connect with all of you by sharing bits of my life. There’s always something interesting going on as I stroll around town. I hope that you are inspired to make the best food and homelife for your family and friends. Join me on this journey.
